Ready-mixed association makes 2007 CONNIE call
The BC Ready-Mixed Concrete Association (BCRMCA) is now calling for 2007 entrants for its province-wide Awards for Excellence in Concrete Construction. The awards for excellence – known as CONNIE awards - recognize innovation in the use of ready-mixed concrete in applications throughout the province.
“The CONNIE awards showcase the leading edge design, sophisticated engineering, and solutions-oriented approaches that have made B.C. one of the most vibrant and vanguard construction markets in the country. It’s a chance to publicly acknowledge the effort, successes and teamwork behind the accomplishments,” says BCRMCA executive director Carolyn Campbell. Last year’s event saw a wide range of projects competing for the CONNIE awards. “Our judges were impressed with the number of entries and the diversity of the projects submitted. But, it was the quality and creativity that really surpassed their expectations,” says Campbell.
Winners in 2005 were chosen in each of the nine categories, as well as the Grand Award winner, and were later featured in media such as the Vancouver Sun, Construction Business, Journal of Commerce, architectureBC, as well as on BCRMCA’s website.
“The pick up we received from the media was excellent, and word spread about the CONNIE awards rapidly. We’ve had inquiries from owners, architectural firms, contractors and municipalities in virtually all parts of the province, wanting to know when the 2007 call for entries is coming out,” says Campbell. “People have really been thinking about their submissions.”
The association will launch the 2007 call for entries at their AGM in Whistler on November 4, but the Journal has this preview.
