Clear Vistas Community plans cross-Canada design competition

Clear Vistas Community #1 (Clear Vistas L.P.) Limited Partnership will hold a cross-Canada design competition in fall 2008 for the design and planning of the entire Clear Vistas community near White City, Saskatchewan.

The competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students registered in programs approved by the Canadian Institute of Planners. First prize is $10,000 and second prize is $5,000.

One member from the two winning teams will be flown to Regina to show their teams’ designs to the judges in December 2008. The judges include two of Canada’s foremost professional planners.

The new community will be built next to neighboring White City and Emerald Park, 10 km east of Regina. Project manager Michael Katz and Clear Vistas L.P. are already working on the project.

The community will be a residential and commercial development on more than 750 acres of land. Plans call for roughly 4,000 residences and approximately 50 acres of commercial development. Once construction is underway in late 2009 or early 2010, development should take approximately 10 years to complete.

An environmentally-friendly recreation and sports complex will be built in the centre of the residential community. The complex will include an indoor field house that will offer soccer, lacross, and tennis; a spa and fitness centre with change rooms; a lounge and games area; and retail space.
