Consulting Engineers of British Columbia
CEBC honours its own at 20th Annual Gala for Engineering Excellence
British Columbia’s consulting engineers gathered earlier this month to honour their own at the 20th Annual Gala for Engineering Excellence.
The Consulting Engineers of B.C. (CEBC) announced a number of award winners at the awards ceremony.
“The most prestigious award, the Lieutenant-Governor’s Award of Engineering Excellence, is given to the project that excels among the Awards of Excellence from five categories,” said Angus English, CEBC president.
“This year, Hatch Mott MacDonald was granted this award for its work on the Sea to Sky Highway Improvement Project, from West Vancouver to Function Junction, near Whistler, B.C.”
CEBC’s Meritorious Achievement Award recognizes an individual, who demonstrates significant contributions to engineering, the development of the industry and the community.
Terry McQuillan, founder of Urban Systems Limited, won the award.
An Award of Excellence and at least one Award of Merit were handed out in five categories: buildings, municipal, transportation, natural resource, energy and industry, and soft engineering.
MCW Consultants Ltd. took home the top prize in the buildings category for their work on the BCIT Aerospace Technology Centre.
Similarly, Dayton & Knight Ltd. were the Award of Excellence winner in the municipal category for the design and construction of the Brightwater Marine Outfall.
In the transportation category, two different companies earned Awards of Excellence.
The Kingsway Pedestrian Bridge garnered Fast Epp Structural Engineers the award, as did the Sea-to-Sky Highway Improvement Project for Hatch Mott MacDonald Ltd.
Sandwell Engineering Inc. was named top dog in the natural resource, energy and industry division for the NaiKun Meteorological Station.
The last Award of Excellence was presented to Associated Engineering (B.C.) Ltd. for their work on getting clean energy from biosolids.
